Inspired by the deep listening experiments of Pauline Oliveros in acoustically fascinating enclosed spaces, Wisher convened a small group of musicians to record an improvisational sound piece in the tunnel on April 4. Later that day, after conducting a poetry workshop at Lafayette College’s Williams Visual Arts Building, Wisher gathered recordings of participants reading their poetry, with excerpts integrated into the work.
A June 19 celebration featured the inaugural presentation of the completed audio artwork, along with remarks by Wisher, the 2025 Karl Stirner Arts Trail Artist-in-Residence, followed by a reception. The work will be permanently installed on the trail and activated by motion sensors as visitors visit the tunnel.
The event also marked the reinstallation of Beth Seetch’s poem Cemetery in the tunnel.
