Catch Faces Places Under the Stars on Aug. 15

Visit the Karl Stirner Arts Trail on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. for a screening of Faces Places, Agnès Varda and JR’s acclaimed documentary.

Agnès Varda and JR stand in front of a large image of a goat in the acclaimed documentary film Faces Places.

Faces Places follows the unlikely duo as they travel through rural France capturing portraits of everyday people. Together, they transform these photographs into massive, outdoor art installations displayed on buildings and structures, creating a poignant celebration of community, art, and human connection. The film won best documentary at Cannes in 2017 and was nominated for an Academy Award.

The event takes place at Movie Hill by the dog park and is part of the Karl Stirner Arts Trail’s Movies and Music on the Trail series, which also includes:

  • Aug. 23 — Old Lady, a New Jersey-based band blending country, rockabilly, and punk
  • Sept. 12 — Liz Keough Orchestra with Silent Films

The series kicked off with the classic 1971 dark comedy-drama Harold and Maude.
