Deep Time Walk With Jeff Mucklin on Nov. 1

Nurture Nature Center’s senior educator will give us a sense of how the Earth’s history and human history compare on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m.-noon.

If the history of Earth was written on a book with one page per year, that book would be 100 miles thick. Come join us on a walking tour through time on the Karl Stirner Arts trail. We will walk one mile from the formation of the earth 4.6 billion years ago to the present. Each step will take us 2 million years forward through time to the present. We will see Earth’s pivotal changes, including when the crust cooled, when life started, and how all of human history compares to the vast geological history of our planet.

Meet at the 13th Street parking lot.

Mucklin graduated from Northampton Community College with a degree in journalism and a focus on science communication. Before working at Nurture Nature Center (NCC), he organized public science demonstrations on topics of popular interest, such as the chemistry of fireworks. At NNC, Mucklin is a Science on a Sphere docent and helps develop programs for the Sphere, along with other educational programs. He also works at the National Canal Museum in Easton as a science educator.

The free event is presented by NNC.
