With deep sadness, we pay our respects to Ed Kerns, one of the chief architects of the Karl Stirner Arts Trail, a key contributor to our founding mission, and the first chairman of our Board of Directors. Ed passed away on Monday, October 20.
Without Ed’s guidance, the trail would not possess its artistic integrity or the eloquent vision that has defined it since its inception. Ed leaves us with a legacy of inspiration and determination to continue carving a path that serves our community, enriches our collective intellectual capacity, and promotes deep civic engagement. We are forever indebted to him for his leadership and commitment.
Last year, Ed received a well-deserved certificate of commendation from Easton Mayor Sal Panto and a resolution signed by the KSAT Board of Directors.
Ed retired from Lafayette College after 42 years of service and over 15 years spent developing and guiding the Karl Stirner Arts Trail to its fruition, enriching the Easton and artistic communities in countless ways.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Whitney; two granddaughters, Peyton Éibhleann Proud and Callie Joy Proud; and brother, Bill Kerns.
Details about a memorial service will be shared in the coming days.
