About 40 people enjoyed a fun hour together at the Fifth Annual Winter Solstice Walk on Dec. 17.

The event began at Thrive Easton in Silk with hot chocolate and children’s stories. With Jeremy Joseph, bandleader of the Easton Big Easy Brass Band, leading the way on trumpet, the group walked over the footbridge to the Karl Stirner Arts Trail and listened to poetry and music by candlelight.

“The idea behind the Solstice Walk is to bring people together, young and older, to embrace the coming of winter and celebrate the season with cheer and hope,” said Peter Schmidt, who co-founded the event with his wife, Randi, and read children’s stories.
