Freedom Fighters & the Underground Railroad

By Habib Fall
Acrylic paint on concrete, 2020

The mural Freedom Fighters by Easton-based artist Habib Fall is on the 100-foot-long Young Masters Wall at the Karl Stirner Arts Trail, featuring images of freedom fighter James Baldwin, activist Angela Davis, and abolitionist Harriet Tubman against an abstract background and scenes of the Underground Railroad.

Karl Stirner Arts Trail Inc. commissioned Easton-based artist Habib Fall in summer 2020 to design and create a mural on the 100-foot-long Young Masters Wall. His idea of celebrating his heroes, freedom fighter James Baldwin, activist Angela Davis, and abolitionist Harriet Tubman, against an abstract background and scenes of the Underground Railroad has been exceptionally well received. With the assistance of Young Masters Wall curator Danny Moyer and the steady hands of the Easton Boys and Girls Club, the team produced a dynamic collaboration. The planned six-month installation has remained due to public request so trail users can continue to appreciate it. The Young Masters Wall has moved to the Dick McAteer Memorial Bridge (“blue bridge”).
