We’ve expanded our Poetry in the Wild Project with more opportunities to get a poem composed on an old-fashioned typewriter just for you:
- Sunday, Sept. 28, 1:30-6 p.m., corner of Pierce Street and Paxinosa Avenue: Danielle Notaro will write original verse for visitors during PorchFest.
- Saturday, Oct. 4, noon-3 p.m., Ahart Family Arts Plaza, 243 N. 3rd Street (opposite Don Juan’s): Sienna Mae Heath will create works under or near the Arts Community of Easton tent as part of Lafayette College’s Fall Arts Festival’s Community Arts Fair.
- Saturday, Oct. 25, 2-5 p.m., Connexions Gallery, 213 Northampton Street, and 4-7 p.m., Book & Puppet, 161 Northampton Street: Rebecca Migdal will wax poetic at the bookstore and Sean Harrison will compose poems at the art gallery based on its MEMENTO MORI exhibit. Location will be outside, weather permitting. Come in costume to Connexions if you want, and join The Gathering Open Mic at 7 p.m.
In addition, in a Walk & Talk on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m., local authors will share nature-inspired prose and poetry at three locations along the arts trail, accompanied by a creative activity at each stop.
The arts trail will host a poetry treasure hunt on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 3-5 p.m. Collect poems from all of the poets located throughout the trail and the adjacent Easton Cemetery and win a prize. The day of fun will continue with a jazz concert and a film screening.
Poetry in the Wild also includes themed poetry webpages; you’re invited to read and to contribute:
- September – “Scents of Autumn”
- August – “Sounds Fishy”
- July – “Fireflies”
- June – “Strawberry Moon”
The Karl Stirner Arts Trail Poetry in the Wild Project began with a celebration of National Poem from Your Pocket Day at the Easton Public Market and outside Book and Puppet on April 18.
This project is supported in part with funding from the Hotel Tax grant programs through Northampton County’s Department of Community & Economic Development, a Crayola Community Grant, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts.
