A record number of 60 people turned out for the Sixth Annual Winter Solstice Walk on Dec. 21.

Organized by Peter and Randi Schmidt, the event began with the reading aloud of children’s books and enjoying hot chocolate at Thrive in Easton’s Silk complex. Then Jeremy Joseph and his trumpet led the group across the candlelit bridge to the trail. Following music, there was a poetry reading about winter and a prose reading about hope and the return of light. The evening concluded with the playing of “Taps.”
